Full course details & dates below.

This class will enable you to create your own needle felted artwork. Using carded and dyed wool you will create your own piece of your own design – or use some of the inspiration provided. Needle felting is the process of layering wool fibre onto a base of fabric. Using a barbed needle and a process of ‘stabbing’ the wool allows the fibres to felt – it’s a whole new therapy!

You Will Learn:

  • The technique of 2D needle felting using wool fibres and a needle
  • How to layer and attach fibres to a felt base
  • How to build up layers and blend the wool
  • Some simple colour theory
  • Some simple perspective theory
  • Some simple picture composition

DONNA HARDY

My name is Donna and I’ll be guiding you on your needle felting journey. Born , raised and still living in Sunny Bangor with my three ‘men-children’ and two Staffies! – I have painted and drawn since childhood and eventually went on to complete my Foundation year at Rupert Stanley College in Belfast. My dream of living in a loft in Paris and living off my creative earnings was dashed when i had to get a proper job to survive! I carried on painting and drawing in fits and starts over the years and then a friend introduced me to needle felting and my painting with wool adventure began. I am inspired by nature , trees the landscape around us, skies – no two are ever the same, and the colours that are found in our surroundings.

When not working full time for Ordnance Survey NI and looking after the zoo that is my house I’m a regular trader at Artisan Markets NI where my work always proves popular. When i have taught needle felting in the past , I’m always excited to see what others create from the wool – everyone’s view of the world is different – who says a sky can’t be barbie pink……
